A collection · to release the debt
Forgiveness is one of the hardest things God asks of us — and one of the most freeing. We resist it because it feels like letting someone off the hook. But Scripture roots forgiveness not in the offender's worthiness but in what we ourselves have received: "Forgive as the Lord forgave you" (Colossians 3:13). Look first at how God treats your own sin — "as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:12). That is the well we forgive out of. Jesus stretched the math past counting — "seventy times seven" (Matthew 18:22) — because forgiveness is meant to stop keeping score, not reach a quota. And there is a hidden mercy in it for you: holding a grudge builds your own prison. These devotionals are for the wound you keep reopening. Read one, name the debt honestly, and ask God for the grace to release it — for their sake, and for yours.
