A collection · for the valley
Grief has no clock, and it cannot be hurried by anyone who has not walked it. If you are in the valley right now — a loss still raw, a chair still empty — these devotionals are not here to rush you out of it. They are here to walk it with you. Notice that the Shepherd does not lift you over the dark valley; He goes through it at your side: "I will fear no evil, for you are with me" (Psalm 23:4). Notice how near God chooses to stand: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). And hold on to the promise that grief is not the last word — because the tomb is empty, "because I live, you also will live" (John 14:19). Take these one at a time. Let yourself weep and let yourself be carried. You are grieving in the company of a God who grieves with you.
