Hello, my friend… so glad you're with me today. This is By God's Call — day 281, Satisfied at Dawn.

Listen to the psalmist's prayer — let it land:

"Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days." Psalm 90:14.

Notice what he is not asking for. He is not asking God to take away every hardship. He is not asking for a smooth day, an easy road, a life with the hard parts removed. He is asking for one thing — to be filled with love at the very start of the day. Before the news. Before the calendar. Before breakfast, before the phone, before the weight of the day walks through the door. This is a prayer of pure priority: before anything else, You, Lord.

And the word he uses — in Hebrew it is shaba — does not mean just a taste. Not a sip. It means to be completely, fully satisfied, like someone who sat down at the table and ate until they could eat no more. God does not offer a small portion of Himself. He gives Himself entirely. Every morning, the table is set — and He is what is on it.

And what is this love? The psalmist says hesed — and that word carries real weight. It is loyal love. Faithful love. Love that does not disappear when you slept badly, when yesterday was hard, when you woke up already behind. The hesed does not depend on how you're doing — it depends on who He is. It is His very nature.

And hear this — that love is not just a beautiful idea in an ancient poem. That hesed took on flesh. Walked this world. Went to the cross — and rose again. Every morning you open your eyes is a morning on the resurrection side of history. You are already covered by that love. He already paid the highest price there is. There is nothing you wake up owing that that love has not already settled.

And that is where the psalmist arrives at the fruit. He connects being satisfied in the morning with singing and rejoicing all day long — not just on the good mornings, not just on the easy days, but all of them. A morning well anchored in God changes the color of every hour that follows. It does not erase difficulty — but it changes where you stand when difficulty comes. You stand in the place of someone already filled, not someone hungry and afraid.

So today — before breakfast — stop. Two minutes. It does not have to be a long prayer. It does not have to be polished or perfect. It just has to be honest. Open your mouth and say out loud to the Lord: "Satisfy me today with Your steadfast love." Mean it. Let that be the first word of your day. Anchor the morning in Him — and watch how the hours that follow change their tone.

Stay close to God. Pray — then act. I'll see you tomorrow, my friend.
