Day 164 · Saturday, June 13
"But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing."JAMES 1:25
Hello, my friend… so glad you're with me today. This is Pray Then Act — day 164, Blessed in the Doing.
James 1:25 says: "But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing."
Notice what James is asking of us. Not a quick glance. Not a skim. He says look closely — lean in, stay there, let the Word open up in front of you. And when you do, you find something that surprises you: this law doesn't crush you. It sets you free.
But the blessing doesn't come in one flash of inspiration. James says persevere. Come back tomorrow. And the day after. The faith that changes things is the faith that returns to the same call, day after day, whether the feeling is there or not.
And there's a warning here, spoken gently: the forgetful hearer. The one who walks away from God's presence full — and an hour later has already lost what he received. Keeping the Word isn't memorizing it. It's letting it shape what you do this afternoon, how you respond tonight, what you choose before you go to bed.
Because God doesn't call the most knowledgeable person blessed. He calls the doer blessed. The blessing isn't waiting on the other side of obedience — it lives inside it. You find it in the very doing.
So today, do this one thing: think of a truth God has already shown you that you have not yet obeyed. Just one. And take the first concrete step in it before today ends.
Stay close to God. Pray — then act. I'll see you tomorrow, my friend.
